It all started with a lobster roll. Sounds sort of funny when I type it out, but it’s true! A couple of months ago my mom and I were planning a trip somewhere in the Northeast of the USA and I told her, “only if it’s a place I can get a lobster roll!” And so that’s how we ended up in Maine. My mom hadn’t been to Maine in over 40 years, and up until our trip I had never been to Maine—even though the border is just about three hours away from my parents’ house in Connecticut.
We decided to go to York, Maine which is a town located in the southern part of the state right next to the Atlantic Ocean. The drive up there was great; we didn’t hit any traffic and we had perfect weather for a road trip. After about 3.5 hours of driving we arrived at our first little bed and breakfast on the York Harbor. We stayed there just one night and then we headed to Long Beach Motor Inn located right across from the ocean. Our stay at this sweet motel was fabulous. It was the perfect little mom and pop place to spend a couple of days to relax and rejuvenate.
Our time went by too quickly and before I knew it we were back in Connecticut! In short, we had lots of laughs, ate plenty of seafood including lobster rolls, saw some breathtaking views and met a lot of nice, genuine people. If you are ever in York, Maine be sure to check out Fishermen’s Dock restaurant on Route 1 for some delicious seafood at great prices!
Writing about this sweet place just doesn’t do it justice. So I documented our trip to show how great this lovely, quaint little town we were in. Hope you enjoy!
